چکیده

The computational fluid dynamics software, CFX5.5 is employed to determine dispersions of emissions from vehicles traversing the streets. Information on the layouts and heights of buildings in the selected area is contained in a digitized map layer of buildings. The Geographic Information System software, ArcView 3.2a, with its programming facility, Avenue, has been used to extract the coordinates and heights of each building polygon under research. These are then input into the CFX-Build component of CFX5.5 to construct the geometry for simulations. The dispersion characteristics, such as the spread of the pollution dispersions, have been determined for different wind speeds and wind directions. 2004 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

Analysis of Chlorine Gas Incident Simulation and Dispersion Within a Complex and Populated Urban Area Via Computation Fluid Dynamics

In some instances, it is inevitable that large amounts of potentially hazardous chemicals like chlorine gas are stored and used in facilities in densely populated areas. In such cases, all safety issues must be carefully considered. To reach this goal, it is important to have accurate information concerning chlorine gas behaviors and how it is dispersed in dense urban areas. Furthermore, mainta...

VOC level control by ventilation improvement of Flexography printing room using CFD modeling

Using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) technique, the dispersion contours and the exposure rate of Flexographic printing workers to VOCs in a printing department is evaluated. Firstly, VOCs distribution is determined in the printing room due to the existing ventilation system. Through next steps, 4 scenarios for lowering VOCs concentration and its exposure rate to workers are analyzed. Concen...

مطالعه تاثیر پوشش گیاهی و بام سبز بر افزایش سرعت باد و پراکنش آلاینده ها در دره‌های شهری با استفاده از دینامیک سیالات محاسباتی

Background and Objective: Increasing population growth and construction of high-rise buildings have doubled the amount of environmental pollution in the cities. Moreover, people use the open urban spaces more than before in order to meet their ecological needs. Accordingly, some parameters such as various vegetation and continuous winds streams can be considerably influential in transmittance o...

Ten iterative steps for model development and evaluation applied to Computational Fluid Dynamics for Environmental Fluid Mechanics

Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) is increasingly used to study a wide variety of complex Environmental Fluid Mechanics (EFM) processes, such as water flow and turbulent mixing of contaminants in rivers and estuaries and wind flow and air pollution dispersion in urban areas. However, the accuracy and reliability of CFD modeling and the correct use of CFD results can easily be compromised. In 2...

Multiphase flow and tromp curve simulation of dense medium cyclones using Computational Fluid Dynamics

Dense Medium Cyclone is a high capacity device that is widely used in coal preparation. It is simple in design but the swirling turbulent flow, the presence of medium and coal with different density and size fraction and the presence of the air-core make the flow pattern in DMCs complex. In this article the flow pattern simulation of DMC is performed with computational fluid dynamics and Fluent...
